What’s Stopping You?
Do you ever get that sinking feeling that you’ve been here before? You can’t quite put a finger on what feels so familiar, but it’s definitely like a 2-star remake of Groundhog’s Day.
There’s nothing more discouraging than that feeling deep down in your gut of knowing you’re fighting the same battle as yesterday. I don’t mean the battle over whether or not your 3 year old can have candy for breakfast. I mean that ever-so-familiar internal battle you fight with yourself. Day after day. It’s your secret struggle.
Is it the battle with procrastination? Or maybe it’s self-doubt and comparison. How about the hourly distraction of a social media binge?
Whatever the struggle, know that you are not alone.
If my work with all types of high achieving clients has taught me anything, it’s that EVERYONE fights with something. And I mean everyone. If you listen to the stories of the most successful CEOs and ceiling-shattering entrepreneurs out there, you’ll see a similar underlying theme. It’s the fight, realization, and overcoming of each personal battle that creates the real story. No one is exempt. There are just people out there who know exactly what to do in the face of personal hardship.
The people who own their battle are the ones who succeed.
The first step to fixing any problem is to acknowledge it, right? It’s Self-Help: 101. Own your issues! Stand up and say it. Shout it through the subway car during the 6pm commute. You have problems!
You can’t fix what’s causing you serious pain, heartache, and exhaustion, whether at home or in your business, unless you pinpoint exactly what it is. If you aren’t motivated to meet deadlines, dig deeper. Why aren’t you meeting them? You probably don’t have the resources lined up to realistically make it all happen. Either that or you just don’t care about the project anymore. It happens. Priorities change. The fact of the matter is – you have to dig deeper if you want to do things differently.
Remember, mindfulness is sexy. Surface-level thinking is lame.
Some people already know where the heart of their struggles lie. Others find this to be the exact time they need to turn to the guidance of a coach.
Once you know, you KNOW.
This is where the real work begins. When you know you’ve got a daily battle to fight, you HAVE to go up against it every.single.day. And I mean it. There are no days off. You will have to face it head on day after day consciously until it becomes a natural part of your routine.
I’ve said it before, but you can’t take one minute of your day for granted. Auto-pilot is not an option if you want to make real progress. Practice makes perfect, and overcoming your internal struggles is no exception.
In order to succeed, you’ll need to schedule time to battle the problem. And yes, I’m still serious. Put it on your calendar. Set up reminders. Whip out those color-coded pens and sticky notes. Many battles make up a war, so think of it as such. You have to be prepared to fight. It’s the only way you’ll overcome the temptation to fall back into your same routines.
And truly, your success will begin within the fight itself.
Stand up to the habits and behaviors that are holding you back. Show them who’s boss, and don’t let them stop you!
The best part…? You don’t have to face it alone.
If you need an army, we can be that for you.
We’ll back you up…every.single.day.
